Distress Oxide lifting with Perfect Pearls

Trying out the distress oxide ink lifting technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire in video not long ago. Instead of just ink lifting with water, I also painted in some water mixed with Perfect pearls.

Flowers are from Altenew stamp set Persian motifs. The butterflies are from a set from Slöjd-Detaljer and from Marianne Design. The dies are from Gummiapan.

The stamps are from Altenew dahlia stamp set. The die is Lawn Fawn and the label sentiment is Mama Elephant.

Trifold birthday card with flying elephants

I saw such a cute video with Nicole Sphor the other day with the new release from Mama Elephant with flying elephants on or with balloons. I don't have that stampset so I thought I would recreate it with what I have at hand. I dug out the Adorable elephants set from My Favorite Things and also a cute set from WPlus9 and went to town.

I used Bristol Smooth paper and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink since I would be watercoloring this panel.

The whole panel fully stamped, now with erased pencil lines so they wouldn't get trapped under the ink.

The whole panel colored. The clouds are done by sponging with distress ink in Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean. I used a Lawn Fawn cloud border die cut card panel as a stencil.

The front panel of the card, sentiment die cut from Gummiapan and stamped sentiment from Slöjddetaljer. It reads Congrats on your birthday in Swedish.

Altenew persian motifs flowers in blue

I got the Altenew Persian motifs stamp set and have been using my Zigs to color it. I stamped the image with Versamark and heat embossed it with white and then went to town in several color schemes. This is the blue one;

I finished it off by adding a strip of gold heat embossed cardstock as well as a strip of blue cardstock and then mounted everything to a white card base. The die is a new one from Gummiapan. It reads "thank you" in Swedish.

Ink smooshing, stenciling and stamping

I got the inspiration from a gorgeous card on Instagram. It had some gorgeous colors that I wouldn't immediately have put together myself so I got out my distress inks and went to town.

I started by smooshing ink onto a laminated sheet I have. I used; Cracked pistachio, Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean and a bit of Chipped Saphire. I sprayed them with water and pressed my watercolor paper into it. I dried it with a heat tool and then pressed it in again where I wanted more color. I did it several times.

Then it was time for some stenciling. I used two different Tim Holtz stencils with some Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink. I used a makeup applicator to dab on the ink.

Then I chose a couple of stamps that I wanted to use; sheet music and a text stamp and stamped that Distress Ink Chipped Saphire. I also used a texture stamp (little dots) with Versacolor silver pigment ink.

Then it was time to stamp the flowers using Distress Ink Dusty Concord. I used two different flowers from a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp set with flowers.

I finished the cards off with sentiments from Gummiapan heat embossed in white.

The cards are then mounted on a dark grey cardbase.

Loved how they turned out!

Scrap haul from Gummiapan

I noticed that Gummiapan had a couple of new releases when it comes to Swedish word dies so I jumped on their new and improved webshop and ordered some scrap candy. I got the dies "Tack", "Grattis" and "Gratulerar". Then I also found some great stamps as well.

The dies are gorgeous, very delicate. I immediately used them on this card I had sitting on my desk, post coming soon.

Vacation and me-time, ink smooshing and die cutting

More inspiration taken from Pinterest and then finally getting a full morning to myself and putting it together =)

For this one, I used a cute tree die set from My Favorite Things. The landscape stiched border and the rectangle stiched frame is from Lawn Fawn. Also the paper is Lawn Fawn, love that paper!!

Here I wanted to try out ink smooshing with some color combinations that I hadn't tried before; Cracked pistachio, Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean and a bit of Chipped Saphire. I stamped the images with Chipped Saphire, Dusty Concord and also a Versacolor in Silver. A bit of Hera Arts white ink was also used through a Tim Holtz stencil. The sentiments are from Gummiapan. Loved how it came out!

And finally, the thank you cards were done

I spent some time making thank you cards to my children's daycare teachers and here is how they finally came out.

The two on the left says that says "Kram" simply means hugs. The dies are from Rox stamps and Gummiapan. They're made with Cardio flower stamps. I actually stamped with Distress inks and it worked great.

The one in the middle is the cutest little elephant from My favorite things. The paper is Lawn Fawn rainbow plad.

In the top right I used a Lawn Fawn stamp set, Mom+me, and did a lot of masking to get all the "kids" in there. Colored it with Zig clean color real brush markers.

And the last one on the bottom right is a background stamp from Hero Arts, I think, white heat embossed with distress inks in Seedless preserves, Wilted violet and Shaded lilac. The sentiment is a Lawn Fawn die, stacked three high.

Putting winner stamps from Lavinia to good use =)

During this past weekend I was attending a scrap event (Stockholm Hobby and Craft event) and had the luck to win a couple of stamps from Lavinia Stamps. Tonight I got to play with them. I borrowed the design from my table neighbour at the event and she was also the one who got me hooked on the "chunky white embossing powder". What effects you can get with that! Will be coming very handy as snow for Christmas cards. You do however have to look out since you heat your project from below (otherwise you'll blow the powder off) but I wasn't looking hard enough so all of a sudden I saw smoke coming from my project. It was ok though... need to look out more next time *big smile*

So here are my two projects, same design, different colors. I used Bristol Smooth cardstock for blending the background. My first time testing it. I must say that the blending is quite smooth but it is definately easier on the cardstock I normally use. Here the colors just keep gliding around. Hard to get the intensity I was looking for. Anyway, more practise needed.

I used Picked raspberry, Dusty Concord, Black soot and Scattered straw distress inks for the left one and Salty ocean, Blueprint sketch, Chipped Saphire, Black soot and Scattered straw for the right one.

My favorite. The square stiched die is from Gummiapan.

Was a bit too generous with the embossing powder here but...wiser until the next time.

With one single tulip...

There's a famous birthday song in Sweden that start with the words "Med en enkel tulipan" which translates to "With a single tulip". I couldn't resist using that sentiment for this simple birthday card. I decided to play along in the Color Throwdown challenge where the challenges is to use yellow, purple and green;

The flowers are stamped with Altenews tulip stamp set and heat embossed in white. I have then watercolored with Distress inks; Wilted violet, Seedless preserves, Mustard seed, Fozzilized amber and Mowed lawn. I used a stiched frame to die-cut the panel, tied a green string around it and popped it up on a craft cardstock cardbase which had been distressed a bit with Vintage photo. Finished off with some Clear droplets 4mm from Pretty pink posh. They arrived in my order the other day. Love those things.

Söta katter med MFT:s I knead you

Jag köpte ett underbart kattstämpelsätt från My Favourite Things called "I knead you" vilket har de mest underbart söta kattbilder som man kan kombinera. Jag hittade inspiration till detta kort på Pinterest... var annars *smile*

Det är en svart kortbas med en bakgrund som är gjord med distress inks och lite vattenstänk på vitt cardstock. Gjorde sedan en svart ram med Lawn Fawns stiched rectangle frames och gjorde ett "fönsterhål" med en stiched die från Gummiapan som finns i olika storlekar. Jag skar ut fönstramen med den minsta fyrkanten i samma die-serie. Pilligt men det går. Fönstret limmades på den svarta ramen och sattes dit med skumtejp för att få djup i bilden. Katterna är färglagda med Zig clean color markers på Canson watercolor paper och utklippta för hand. Citatet är sedan heat embossat i vitt.

Till insidan så gjorde jag en vit bas med samma stiched rectangle die som på framsidan för att ha något att skriva på. Stämplade sedan en annan katt och garnnystan från samma stämpelsätt.

Kattkort till alla hjärtans dag

Efter lite slösurfning på Pinterest så hittade jag detta underbara kortet av "Little Crafty Pill". Bestämde mig för att gör en variant med My Favorite Things katter och hjärtan för lite "Alla hjärtans dag"-tema.

Jag stämplade bakgrunden med ett hjärta som heat embossades i vitt. Sedan tog jag distress inks och blandade färger jag tyckte om. Limmade sedan dit två vita sidopaneler och körde alltihop igenom Big Shot med en stiched rectangle die från Lawn Fawn. Man får då matchande stygn på båda papprena. Snyggt tyckte jag. Gjorde sedan en cirkel med hjälp av dies från Gummiapan. Katterna är färglagda med Zig clean color markers.

Blev nöjd med slutresultatet men nästa gång så tror jag att de vita panelerna ska höjas upp med skumtejp för att få lite mer djup.

4x2 kort av snygga spillpapper

Med inspiration från en video av Jennifer McGuire om "Stripe inlay" så gjorde jag dessa kort. Här har jag använt överblivet papper från andra projekt, skurit dem i smala remsor och sedan fäst dem på ett vanligt cardstock med hjälp av Stick-it (underbar produkt).

Slutresultatet är sedan delat i två som kan användas som bård på 2 kort. Jag har sedan tagit en Lawn Fawn word die (smile) och en Gummiapan word die (grattis) och skurit ut. Där har jag använt både den positiva och negativa sidan på olika kort vilket i slutändan ger 4 kort totalt! Ovanför och nedanför bården har jag gjort en stygnrad med Lawn Fawn stiched border die.

Tyckte slutresultatet blev riktigt häftigt.

Här är spillpapper från Pion Design använda. Älskar pappret med amerikanska nummerplåtar. Så cool av någon anledning. Stämpeln "på födelsedagen" är från Slöjddetaljer och "It's your birthday!" från Newton's Nook.

With Love and sympathy

Gjorde ett kort gjort till en vän där hennes hund gått bort väldigt hastigt.

Tassarna är stämplade och sedan heat embossade i silver. Hjärtarna är die cuts som jag lagt ett lager med Glossy accents på. Textstämpeln är från Lawn Fawn, heat embossad i vitt.

Ta alltid ut lyckan i förskott

Gummiapan har underbara textstämplar. Hittade den här nedan på senaste shopping-rundan och kunde inte låta bli. Tyckte det blev snyggt med heat embossing i vitt och bakgrunder gjorda med Distress Inks och vattenpenselpenna. Monterade på svart cardstock och sedan på en vit kortbas.

Kram med vikning på mitten

Jag älskar stämplarna från Newton's Nook. Jag blev inspirerad av en bild på Pinterest med en underbar blå färg så testade att återskapa detta med hjälp av Distress Ink och en vattenpenselpenna (eller vad det nu heter) på vattenfärgspapper. Använde sedan Lawn Fawns "small stiched border die".

Newton är målad på samma sätt fast först heat embossad med vitt. Gör det lite enklare att hålla sig innanför kanterna. Har sedan använt de "coordinating dies" som man kan köpa till stämplarna för att enkelt klippa ut honom.

Stämplen tycker jag är helt underbar. Den är från Gummiapan och också den heat embossad.

Happy fall med Hero Arts

Har äntligen färdigställt lite projekt som jag jobbat med. Testade Hero Arts trädstämplar med Distress Inks. Med tanke på att löven inte är så detaljerade så fungerade detta utmärkt. Funderar dock på att till nästa omgång testa att stämpla med en ljus färg, sprida färgen med vatten och pensel, torka och sedan stämpla med lite mörkare färger. Får återkomma till det då;

Den gula och bruna cardstocken har jag använt en die från Gummiapan. Jag har dock inte helt nöjd med deras dies. De lägger stygnen lite för nära kanten samt att man måste efterarbeta genom att skrapa bort papper på baksidan så stygnen verkligen syns. Dessutom är diesen i lite väl tunt stål vilket gör att de böjer sig jättelätt. En väldig skillnad jämfört med t.ex Lawn Fawns "stiched border dies".

Dags att testa lite kortskisser. Hittade en kortskiss på CAS(E) this Sketch! som jag tyckte var rolig att testa:

Kom direkt att tänka på nedan komposition i blått av någon anledning. Ville ju använda mig av katter men ville få till själva "pusselbitarna" på något bra sätt. Slutade med att jag använde dies från Poppy stamps och Gummiapan. Hittade en härlig cardstock i Aqua marine från Coredinations som fick bli kuberna. Stämplade sedan med en stämpel från Newton's Nook och alla katterna fick lite Wink of Stella på sig. Kändes inte riktigt helt klart där utan la även dit ett hjärta. Ta da =):

Lek med Distress Inks och stämplar från Gummiapan

Lekte lite med Distress Inks för några kvällar sedan. Fick nu äntligen tummen ur och "heat embossade" Gummiapans underbara stämplar med Rangers vita embossingpulver. Blev så glad när jag hittade dessa stämplar i deras webbshop!

Nu ska jag bara lyckas sätta ihop dem som kort också...!

Sommarkort med dahlior

Nu har jag äntligen fått testa heat embossing och färgläggning med Distress Inks ordentligt. Jag använde mig av ett stämpelset från Altenew med dahlior som jag stämplat och färglagt i olika varianter. Testade även två textstämplar från Gummiapan som jag tyckte passade in med motivet.
